Ardmore A163082
63 lb. neutered male,
5ish yrs old
Hunky American Bulldog
“My Handsome Honey Bear”
Please allow me to preface this post by saying that my biggest responsibility, as a foster parent, is to assist in allowing these dogs to grow and heal (emotionally and physically) to then prepare them for their next stage in life.
That being said… Some dogs are already perfect and ready to move forward. Some dogs simply need time and medication to improve their situations, and then there are a few that will always remain perfectly imperfect. These dogs are healthy, happy and emotionally ready to move forward. They just have a slight hitch in their giddy up. And that is ok too.
Soooooo…….I went to the shelter one day, looking for someone “in need” and found Ardmore recovering from knee surgery, not eating well, unwilling to walk for more than a few steps at a time and simply unsure of who he should trust. But holy moly, was he handsome! So I told Ardy to “get in the jeep” and that the shelter was no place to recover from knee surgery!!
What we have discovered so far;
- Is that Ardy may have suffered a stroke (initially presenting like a vestibular episode (vertigo) but never truly recovering, completely) **this has not been verified!** This is all based on presentation….
- He can go upstairs slowly but cannot go down without assistance
- He is unstable on all four limbs, but is mobile
- He gets excited about food, but will eat slowly and drop food from his cheeks
- He has a slight head tilt, always looking like he’s listening
- He loves to be your shadow but cannot always keep up
- He loves snacks, but will only choose the soft ones
- He will do zoomies in the yard - which will make you laugh out loud and heart want to explode!! But may tip over once out of control.
- Ardy loves car rides and calm dogs and walks around the park. But his favorite of all time will be belly rubs Never forget the belly rubs!
- Potty trained and an ultra chill dude!
- Ardy would prefer a ranch style dwelling (less stairs to traverse) with plenty of rugs, snacks, and natural sunlight
- He lives with another foster dog currently and they get along really well
- I would expect him to do well with older children and cats too though he has no experience with them so far in foster care
So…Is Ardy perfect? Maaaybeee not…
But he IS soo perfectly imperfect…..I am confident that you will love everything about him!
