My Story

Courtesy Posting: Baldwin Park Shelter (LA County), Baldwin Park, So Cal ' APRIL" - ID #A5620032 X URGENT – SHELTER IS FULL- WONDERFUL AND STRIKINGLY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AND DOG FRIENDLY YOUNG LADY LISTED AS A PEI/CHOW MIX BUT LOOKS MORE PEI/SHEP LIKE, 4 yrs, 53 lbs. NEEDS A GOOD HOME AND/OR FOSTER AND RESCUE BEFORE SHE IS KILLED FOR SPACE, WHO CAN HELP SAVE HER? Pls contact Robin to foster, or shelter to adopt Help! April is a super sweet, super smart girl with the most unique looks who sadly ended up in this very full kill shelter after being surrendered for no apparent reason! This stunner has shiny deep brown fur, like dark chocolate, with a short curly tail and spotted tongue in her Shar-Pei roots and adorable face. She has taller ears more like a shepherd though but shelter listed her as a pei chow mix. We have wonderful videos of her where she warms right up when out with her human but understandably is a bit more scared and shy when in her kennel! Volunteers say she is very sweet with handler once out of kennel, and very cooperative - eager to please. Could be handled all over, and solicited further petting after being assessed by handler. Medium energy level and tolerant of other dogs - would likely do best with continued socialization and confidence building, as well as living with other lower energy/calm dogs. APRIL’S VIDEO: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1454533955165561 April appears to be potty trained, has already been spayed and vaccinated and is ready to go right home! For direct adoption inquiries for April, please contact the shelter using her listing link: https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/april-a5620032.html or by calling 626-962-3577 or 626-430-2378 and ask for her by ID. She is available for public adoption but due to her urgency, she likely needs a foster and rescue if no one comes for her soon as most rescues need fosters to save a dog. Therefore, if you are interested in fostering, or need more information or want to help, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with her placement, and can try to pair you with a rescue to help or foster through. If needed, we can provide medical and behavior notes from the shelter. She has no reported medical issues. We will also be posting updates, additional pictures and on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/pfbid022Y9oKnCimvsXm2yBCxTm616sNCbrasho3bEySQc1NjyV3Ac5fYUf9onXos4V1wuyl Note: to view contents of links you will need to copy and paste each one separately into your browser.
