My Story

Apache appears to be a purebred German Shepherd Dog. Apache had been roaming one of the local neighborhoods in Lawrence Co. and the neighbors had been feeding him until he became caught in a trap and they decided he needed more protection than they could give him. Apache has only been at the shelter for 2 days (1/5/05) and right now, he is very worn and weathered. Apache's toenails were so long when he came to the shelter, it is amazing he could walk without injuring himself. He coat is weathered from the elements but this boy will be a real beauty given the proper nutrition and care. She is tan with the black saddle back and has the huge ears of a German Shepherd. Though a little uncertain of the shelter, he is not aggressive towards any people or other dogs. He is a gentle soul trapped in a body that is worn due to lack of care but each day he gets a little stronger and happier. We have just been letting him get acclimated to everyone and everything at the shelter so he has not been checked out yet by our vet so a definitive age is not know. That info will be provided as soon as we get it. In the meantime, if you would like to know more about Apache's personality and how he is doing at the shelter, please email or call Kim Perry at (606) 638-0512.
