**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.
Little Orphan Annie would like to lose her orphan status and be your forever!!!
Hi my name is Annie and I'm about 2 years old and 15 pounds, but I could use a little bit of weight to fill me out. I was brought to the shelter when my owner was incarcerated. I was held there until my angel advocate finally convinced the courts to release me so I could find my forever home.
I recently arrived so I will have to update this later but thought I would tell you a little about myself. My foster mom wanted to introduce me to the dogs in her home gradually, you know since I've been in jail myself for 3 months, but I knew right away I wanted to be a part of the fur family. The playful ones welcomed me with open paws and I was very thankful for that. I've spent so much time alone in my kennel that I like being part of the social pack.
I was a little nervous in the car on the ride home because I just got off the freedom van after 15+ hours and I wondered where I was going next. Mom kept petting me and telling me I would be safe so I listened to her and settled down in my little car seat.
I have a lot of puppy behaviors even though I'm 2. When mom walks I face her jumping around like a jumping bean. While I have springs in my legs to jump, it takes me a few times to jump up on the couch. I think my long dachshund body holds me down....hahaha! I use my nails a little too much when I'm jumping so I'm not a good match for little kids or people with sensitive skin. I like to nibble on fingers too. I have some training work to do to gain some maturity from my puppy acting status.
I am a very, very sweet girl and I like to give kisses!!
When I walk on the leash I'm a bit all over the place, so you have to be careful you don't trip over me and I have to be taught to walk on one side of you and stay out of your way.
The shelter said I was housebroken but there is uncertainty about that since spending 3 months in an inside kennel, so I will likely need some brushing up skills.
If you would like a girl who is very sweet, has a great personality and wants to be with whenever I can, please complete an application and lets lose my orphan status!!
We are presently not holding our regular Saturday adoption clinics due to the Covid-19 virus. We are operating on a limited basis until further notice, but we are still adopting dogs out. We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
