My Story

Meet Angus, affectionately known as Gus! This adorable terrier mix was born in late May 2024 & currently weighs in at 9 lbs, with tiny paws that suggest he’ll stay on the smaller side. Gus was surrendered to us after his previous owner's wife passed away & he wasn't prepared to care for a puppy. Despite his rough start, Gus has quickly adapted to his new life. He’s now updated on vaccines, microchipped, & will be scheduled for his neuter procedure when he turns 6 months old. Gus is a bundle of joy—playful, feisty & full of personality. He’s very affectionate & loves being held, with a small but mighty presence that makes him an endearing companion. He’s great with kids, although he might jump up a bit in his excitement. With other dogs, Gus was initially a bit shy due to their size, but he’s since warmed up & enjoys playing with them. He’s a high-energy puppy but also knows how to relax and nap quickly. Gus loves being around people & will happily lay by your feet or follow you around. He’s already learned how to sit & is friendly with everyone he meets. Gus sleeps well in his kennel, adjusting quickly to new routines & showing progress with potty training. Given his young age, Gus will need a home where he won’t be left alone for extended periods. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate companion with a heart full of love, Gus might just be your perfect match! Please note: as with most rescue puppies, we have no way to guarantee this puppy’s breed or size potential. PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for puppies covers initial deworming, puppy vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter at the rescue's approved vet at 6 months of age. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! **Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
