Introducing Anavah!!! Anavah is a STUNNING 4.5 year old AKC German Shepherd. She weighs 80lbs and is spayed, current on vaccines and healthy! German shepherds were bred to work. They have the endurance and intelligence to accomplish many tasks, which is why they are often used in law enforcement, the military, and search and rescue. They're also known to be protective, confident, loyal, and brave. They have the ability and desire to learn. Although they also make loving pets, it should never be forgotten that it's in their nature to live with purpose. German shepherds also have a high prey drive. Although prey drive can vary greatly between each dog, working and sporting breeds have a much higher prey drive than non-working breeds. Because of this, owning and training a German shepherd requires some knowledge of the breed as well as their prey drive. Anavah is a true representation of the breed. She is extremely loyal to her people and in fact is one of the more friendly and confident German shepherds we have met! She is very gentle with children! She does very well meeting strangers! She LOVES her toy balls any type! However, true to the breed, she does have prey drive and therefore it is recommended she be the only pet. She does not like to be around other dogs. She's going to do best in a rural environment without close neighbors with pets/farm animals. A securely fenced yard or leash walking only. Experience with the breed is a huge plus. We have had her evaluated by two different Training Facilties! Anavah is NOT being housed by us, but by the most recent Training Facility. Here is what they have to say: Recently, the local animal shelter reached out to me about a 4 year old showline German Shepherd female named Anavah. They felt that some training might help her in finding a forever home. As a dog trainer very familiar with German Shepherd Dogs, I agreed and offered to help. I requested to meet and evaluate her and see if I could assist in finding her a path to a new life. The shelter brought Anavah to my facility, Country Road Boarding & Obedience, for the evaluation and meet and greet. We're a smaller, more personal, calmer facility than some larger facilities that have to deal in larger volumes of dogs because of a different mission statement. Although the shelter does a phenomenal job and gives the very best care possible that they can, I saw pretty quickly that she was responding better to a more private one-on-one environment that involved interaction with a trainer. She began showing more of her personality and nature. She's a very affectionate dog and very intelligent. She has excellent food drive and responded very well to food training and interaction with me as the trainer. It became apparent she wants to work and please her handler when given the opportunity. In addition to her food drive, she also has very high prey drive that can be very useful in the right situations. Anavah would do best in an active family home with a fenced yard as the only dog. I'm happy to speak to potential new homes and answer any questions you may have.
