Amore came to ARC from Hardin County Animal Shelter, where she was surrendered. She needed more space and affection than Hardin County could give her, so ARC took her in! This sweet girl has stolen the hearts of the ARC staff and volunteers! She loves going for a walk, sniffing all the fun smells, taking car rides, getting belly rubs, soaking up the sun, giving kisses and just a good snuggle! Watch out, this girl can get a pretty serious case of the zoomies now and again!!!
Amore is highly reactive to cats, however, she has been working on her impulse control when walking near them and not losing her mind (she should NOT live in a home with cats!). She is doing great, and she is also learning basic dog training behaviors like "sit", "down", "stay" and she is a wonderful loose-leash walker!
Amore is a treat connoisseur, she loves to earn treats and is a fantastic learning partner! She loves to please her person and is always proud to learn something new. She can easily chill out with a peanut butter Kong and snooze on a comfy bed.
During a very cold snap, Amore moved indoors and stayed in our laundry room. Workers spent the night at ARC to make sure the dogs were settled in okay. Amore got to snuggle all night on a blow up mattress with us and she LOVED it!!! She is a great snuggler and just wants to be close :)
Her DNA panel was done recently and she is no doubt a pit bull terrier, check out her results here https://www.wisdompanel.com/app/s/fwq1xgc
Amore would do best as an only pet. She has so much love to give and just needs a family that is willing to give her a chance! We think she would do just fine in an apartment or home of any size. She does not necessarily need a fenced yard, just an opportunity for a short walk a few times a day. She does enjoy a good zoomie session in a secure space, but mostly enjoys a comfy bed (or couch) to snooze on, and when her people are home, to just be close and be part of the family!
