Do you ever just meet a dog and your heart immediately melts? That's the case with our girl Amelia. She's scared in the shelter but finds comfort in her handler. She loves pets, hugs, kisses, and any sort of cuddles! You can see her worries melt away when she's in your arms.
Amelia is available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. If you're a committed and loving home, she'd love to be your new pal! You can meet her any day from 10am-6pm. Interested fosters should email

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 8/3/24: Very easy to leash- she walks politely without any pulling at all! She was a little hesitant walking through doorways, definitely a scared lady who looked to me for comfort. She accepted pets all over, such a sweet gal! She takes treats SUPER gently and not overly treat motivated. She leisurely chased after toys but really didn't have too much interest.

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray/Owner surrender
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
In kennel AMelia was standing near her bed, but came right up when she saw me. She had big soft eyes and I noticed a growth or injury to her right eye. She wagged her tail and her body was loose, and when I reached in she was patient for leashing. She came right out once secured.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulled minimally
HANDLING:
When we got to the room I wanted to check on Amelia's eye, as it looked very abnormal, but she doesn't let that slow her down! I crouched down and she curled right into my body, submissive peeing a little. She allowed me to get a better look at her eye, and it doesn't seem to be bothering her too much. She was blinking normally and could move the eye around, it wasn't bloodshot and didn't look irritated. I backed up and went to go sit down, and Amelia followed, jumping right into my lap and leaning into my chest. She's a very cuddly girl! She got down when I tossed a treat for her, but she did not eat it. Amelia allowed all handling with submissive body posture, but was very tolerant. SHe wasn;t super interested in treat, but she did take bacon treats, so maybe that's her favorite! She wasn't super interested in toys or play either, and was actually a little scared of all the sudden movement. Amelia is very submissive and timid, but she's very friendly and affectionate.
PLAY:
No interest, got a little scared of my sudden movements
TOYS:
Some interest in squeakies but scared of sudden movements
