My Story

Amelia is happy easy going young adult who has been abandoned and had the good fortune to find her way here, to Bones Pet Rescue. We are looking for a super home for her so she can have what she needs and deserves the rest of her life. Amelia is a husky mix (not too much mix), spayed, up to date on vaccinations, chipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm preventive. Lucky for her and us, she was uninfected upon arrival. She weighs about 50 pounds. She loves to play with other dogs, loves to be with people, has nice manners and is a happy camper, ready to respond and cooperate. She shows signs of being indifferent to cats and she’s been just wanting to play with the dogs she’s met so far. She’s a great match, we think, for a family with children that are at least school-aged, possibly respectful younger ones, as well. She likes to just be with her people and be part of the action. We think she’d fit into a lot of situations where she is a big part of the daily lives of her people. Amelia will need to be given patience as she learns to fit into her new home. She may need house-training or house-training review. She’s not been on a leash very much, we believe, but should quickly adapt to proper training. We think if she has a compatible doggie friend at home that this would be a plus for both her and her humans. She is a malemute or husky mix and thus likely requires a very secure yard. She may be able to escape any fencing lower than 6 feet, or higher, if she’s got a way to make it happen. She will need year round dedicated grooming to prevent coat mats. She will shed a lot. She should never be shaved so grooming to keep coat in top condition mandatory. Her calm and affable demeanor suggest she may be fine with people who’ve not had Husky or Malemute experience, if they are willing to take what these breeds might give. Those interested need to read up on typical husky behavior to be sure they are up for the task, in case this girl should show more typical husky behavior as she settles in. Here, where she is kenneled much of the time, we see only a friendly, happy, contented girl who obviously will be a fabulous pet and companion. Please contact us if you want more information or to meet Amelia. We will need an adoption application completed before a visit is arranged. A home visit and references from a vet and people who know the applicant are required, along with an adoption fee.
