Alice

Female - 1 year - 35 lb medium mixed breed Adoption Fee: $175 Alice was a transfer from Lucas County Canine Care and Control. She had been surrendered there because she is completely deaf, and was proving to hard for her current owners to train. We said "Challenge Accepted". We named Alice after Alice Cogswell. Alice Cogswell made history at the age of 9 by sparking the beginning of the creation of American Sign Language and American deaf education. Prior to Alice coming here we had no experience working with deaf dogs. Now we have been working with trainers over at the Zoom Room to train our staff on how to communicate with Alice, and boy has it been fun! Turns out Alice isn't a challenge, but an opportunity to learn how to work with other deaf dogs like her! Alice is a high energy gal, and loves playing with toys, people, and other dogs alike! (She particularly likes playing with Nathan!) She loves her weekly training sessions at the Zoom Room and has already begun making progress. When Alice is excited she likes to pick things up and just carry them around with her. Its usually toys, but today she was parading around her water bowl for everyone. She was real proud of it. Alice loves everyone, and if someone is sitting down you can guarantee she is most likely in their lap. Don't be put off by her deaf label, give Alice a chance she might just surprise you!
