My Story

Meet Alaska! *Out of state adopters- we work with a transport group to drive our pups up north to the cities we have Alaska listed in. We would FaceTime with adopters to show more about him and we do matchmake to be sure it's a good fit.* This handsome boy lucked out while wondering around as a stray along a highway near San Antonio. A good Samaritan stopped to get him before he was hit by a car and they contacted Adore for help after they didn't find a chip or owners. We've had him transported to our vet in Houston where he was neutered and fully vaccinated. Alaska is extremely friendly with all people and is working on his manners in the home. We would recommend a Husky experienced owner who knows the ins and outs of his temperament (he is an amazing dog but not the best fit for a first time dog owner). He is fully crate trained and has never had an accident inside. He does howl and apartment neighbors may not love hearing him sing the songs of his ancestors. He is an energetic boy and enjoys walks-but he is lazy after he gets some energy out and. He would love to be active and would be a great hiking buddy- but would probably be a couch potato afterwards. We are working with him on training while he is in his foster home- HE IS DOING GREAT! Our team has been working on training commands with him such as sitting while he is in his crate and waiting to be released from the crate with the "free" command- same with waiting to come inside with sitting and waiting for the command to come inside. He is doing much better with leash walking as well. He is learning to walk slightly behind us and does frequent check ins. He will stop when we stop and if we are talking with the neighbors he will roll over for belly rubs. He is treat motivated but will show his true Husky nature and gripe at you before doing his commands. Once you bond with Alaska- he will be your best friend. Alaska is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm positive. He will be starting treatment for fast kill asap. He is about 2-3 years old and weighs about 60 lbs. We would love to talk more with adopters about Alaska! Please fill out an adoption application on our website at www.adorehouston.org/adoption-application/
