My Story

Meet Alana! Alana is a 10 month old Black Mouth Cur mix. She was part of a litter of eight in Kentucky that was dropped off at a shelter. Four of the puppies were sent to foster care, two were sent to another rescue, and STAF was lucky enough to get Alana and her brother Coqui! Alana is a little bigger than her brother. She is a beautiful golden color with the most adorable black patch around her mouth. She has the cutest white stripe down her nose and white patches on her chest and toes! Alana loves to play in the yard with toys or with her brother! These two pups are the CUTEST! Although they are very good buddies, we believe they can be adopted separately. Since Alana is just a puppy, she is learning how to walk on leash. She is a pretty good walker with the occasional (and adorable) happy bunny hop or clumsy collision into her handler but she is figuring it out and she sure is cute doing it! Alana is a real sweetheart that is looking to find her forever family to teach her how to be a dog! You are sure to fall in love with her as soon as you meet her! Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process and our adoption application. *** Email [email protected] for next steps! *** • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
