My Story

Meet Airstream Hi! I'm Airstream, a Whippet, Terrier Mix, and I was born at Hopeful Tails and lived there the first 5 months of my life before I finally went to live with a foster family for 7 months. They have 4 small kids (5 & under) and 3 dogs of their own. I just celebrated my first birthday. I love hugs and snuggles from the kids and playing with the dogs. While I love to play and get my exercise in I love curling up on the couch at night with my foster mom (and occasionally dad). I love being in my yard and talking to the neighbors' dogs. Because of this and my size my foster mommy recommends a 6' fence but is NOT a requirement as they have a 4' fence and haven't had any problems with me. My ideal family is someone that is home regularly with at least a moderate energy level. I would also love a playmate but it's not a necessity. I am potty trained and crate trained. I know sit, but I'm not always the most patient when waiting for/taking a treat so I sometimes might nibble on your fingers. I walk decently on a leash but could use a little more practice. Even though I live with little kids I probably should go to a home with older kids, because I'm such a BIG puppy who doesn't always recognize my size/strength. The MOST important qualities I will need from my new family are love, time, and A LOT of patience. I am sometimes skittish around new people (but not always) especially men. For example, my foster family went on a human only vacation, so I stayed with another foster family. The nice lady I stayed with had me meet her fiance outside and by the next day me and him were best buds snuggling on the couch and I didn't bark at him anymore. I will also need some solid training to reinforce commands and learn some manners. My foster mom says I'm very smart, food motivated, and that I just need to learn to apply the skills I'm taught. Because of this, my foster mom believes with time, patience, yummy treats and the right family this will make me a dream dog.
