My Story

Meet Aemon. Aemon was surrendered to our rescue when he was 2.5 years old (in February of 2020). His family surrendered him because he had spontaneously gone blind, seemingly overnight. He went from a seeing and active dog to running into walls and suffering from severe separation anxiety (understandably so). We took him to a veterinary ophthalmologist who said he presented textbook SARDS (sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome). This is more common in older dogs, and at just 2.5 years old, Aemon was the youngest dog in which he had ever seen it occur. Aemon has been living in his foster home since then, gets around well, can use steps to get on the bed on his own, can and will jump on the couch to be next to you, uses a doggy door to do his business outside (most of the time, he does get disoriented at night when everyone is asleep and it is quiet). Aemon would not be a good apartment dog, as he does get vocal when left alone due to his separation anxiety. As a result of SARDS, Aemon would thrive in a home with less people and to be the only dog in the house. The less distractions and odd noises, the better; almost like what you might want if you could imagine going from normal vision to none in the blink of an eye. Allow Aemon ample time to re-acclimate and he will be your best man! He loves cuddles, is fiercely loyal, is bilingual (English and Spanish), loves to play soccer, sounds like a little pig, has hearing like an owl, a nose like a bear (hide yo food), and will stick by your side no matter what! **Aemon is only currently available for adoption in the Houston area** ——————————— All PETronus Rescue dogs receive basic vaccinations (distemper/parvo, bordetella, & rabies), spay/ neuter, and microchip prior to adoption. We also treat any know medical issues, including heartworms. Our dogs live in foster homes while they wait patiently for their forever families to find them. This is beneficial in that they learn house manners, crate training, housebreaking, etc while they wait and we are also able to get a very realistic picture of their energy level, temperament, etc so that we can place them in a home that is the best fit. Our adoption fees are $200 for dogs over 1 year of age and $250 for dogs under 1 year of age. Puppies receive 3 rounds of puppy vaccinations. If you are interested in adopting one of our amazing dogs, please fill out our adoption application here http://bit.ly/PRAdoption and we will be in touch!
