My Story

Introducing...Miss Adonia! Addie, as she is affectionately called in her foster home, is a 6-years young lady in the prime of life who maintains a peppy step and a "let's enjoy the day" attitude. Addie was pulled from a local shelter partner when her foster mom saw a video of her sitting in her kennel, quietly observing the loud noises of the shelter with a bewildered look on her face. It was no place for this sweet soul. In her foster home, Addie has been living with both female and male dogs and has been a friend to everyone. She has not been cat tested, but she does find them interesting from a distance, so she is probably best in a canine only home. Addie's list of things she hopes for in her forever home (with foster mom's notes): - Addie loves people, and is welcoming to both men and women. Her foster parents do not have human children so she has only met a few, but did well with them. She has not shown any resource guarding or grouchiness, and take surprises and new situations in stride, so a home with children (age 6 and up for sturdiness sake) is a definite possibility. She does like to give kisses! - Someone who enjoys a daily stroll at a moderate pace. (One longer walk, or a couple shorter walks are generally good to fulfill her daily exercise needs. She walks nicely on leash and has the cutest Tigger-bounce when she is happy. She is not the dog for you if you like to run long distance). - A cozy spot to nap. (During the day, Addie rests in crate while her foster parents are at work. She is totally fine with this and spends the time catching zzzz's. She is not a couch creeper either. She actually seems to prefer the floor or her bed, though if invited, she would definitely love to snuggle on the couch with her person. When given free-roaming time in the house, she prefers to lay near where the people are and chill. She appreciates attention, but doesn't need or constantly demand it). - Snacks. (Addie has shown that she is praise-motivated when training and she has a biddable nature, but snacks always sweeten up the deal). In short, Adonia is a mild-mannered and level-headed sweetheart who enjoys the simple things in life. She is looking for someone who will appreciate her soft snores when she is in the midst of a solid nap, and enjoy a late afternoon walk with her. Addie is spayed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on her vaccines, and is on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. She is crate-trained and housebroken (although regression is common with a change of environment).
