My Story

Adaline is a gorgeous GSD! From her Foster Mom: Adaline is the sweetest baby ever! She loves being around other dogs and needs other dogs to help her feel safe and confident. She has never been around cats. She has been around my 4 year old brother and was okay she was just scared. She’s never shown any aggression towards other people or animals. She is super skittish around new people and new environment especially around men and loud noises. She takes a long time to feel comfortable around new things. Going out the front door, to the car to new places is very frightening. Going on walks is very scary and something that is still new and we are learning about. She knows how to sit and is still very new and learning to lay down and shake. She is kenneled trained but still has occasional accidents. She loves toys, socks, treats and pup cups. She is a big chewer and loves to try and eat the toys. Her favorite thing to do is run, play, bark, and cuddle with her 2 sisters and lay in the bed and sleep. She is a dog that needs a lot of TLC and people who understand the time and patience and work she needs. If you are ready for the love and also the work, time, patience, expense and commitment required to care for a dog for its entire life, we welcome your adoption application! Sending us a completed application at www.ForThePets.org is the very first step so be sure to do that first thing! The adoption donation is $200. The adoption donation also includes a discount for our Canine Good Citizen Class. When applying for any adoption, please be aware that The Humane Society office is open Mon - Thurs from 10 - 3. We will respond to any inquiries or adoption submissions sent during non-office hours on the next day we are in the office. Thank you for your understanding! Dog Adoption Guidelines: You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. Send your application in directly at www.ForThePets.org. You can email us with any questions at [email protected]. It is not a first come process; we try to match the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home match is not found, the dog returns to active status. The dog adoption process can take up to two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who mostly have full time jobs. All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges, unless otherwise specified. We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered. If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person. We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport. We can't provide individual meet and greet sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have plenty of time for your family and pets to visit with the potential new family member before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
