My Story

We are always getting both compliments and questions on all the nice looking dogs/pups on our web site. We thought we would give you an insight to how some look when they arrive at our Rescue. We thought we would share a few facts with you.

A GLIMMER OF HOPE FOR PUPPY MILL PRISONERS:

Puppy Mill dogs have very few Rescues willing to take the necessary steps to save them. Puppy Mill dogs have many years of pain and suffering with little hope of freedom. Canine Rescue is proud to say we rescue from both high kill Shelters and puppy mills. The pictures of this poodle are being placed on our website to help you envision just part of the torture and heartbreak these dogs go though. This dog was brought into rescue on Friday 1/29/10 along with several others. They were all covered with fleas, flea nests, filth, dried feces and urine. They were dehydrated, starved and their coats a matted mess....and Animal Control in the area these dogs came from says they don't see a problem. ...they must be totally blind!!!! These dogs live outside in the weather (cold, rain, extreme heat) in rabbit hutches that are overcrowded and full of feces. A lot of these dogs have never been on the grass or in a house or been held with a loving hand or treated kindly. Laws to protect animals from this type of abuse and life are nonexistent in many States especially the South.

Canine Rescue is proud to step up and help these dogs....we have found that once you have worked with them and shown them a little kindness that they are absolutely magnificent companions and loyal for life. Rescue is their only hope.

In a few weeks this poodle boy will have an updated picture posted and be ready for adoption. You will not believe it is the same dog...stay tuned.

3/12/10-This little girl came was rescued today and is just a matted mess. She has cocklebur's all in her coat, her teeth are a mess yet she is the sweetest little thing. She weighs 6-7 pounds and is just precious. She will be headed to the groomer on Monday...she will feel so much better once the mats are gone. Abbie is going to be a real little charmer.

UPDATE 4/10/10-Abbie's updated picture is now on line. She is a cutie pie....loves people, good with other dogs, is a lap dog..rides well in the car...she is just a delightful little dog. We think she is about 5 years old. She is going to the Vet for her spay surgery on 4/16/10 so she will be ready to go home soon afterward.

4/17/10: Abbie was the worst our Vet has seen (and he has seen a lot of dogs in foul shape) as far as Abbie's spay surgery. He said if had had taken her uterus she would have died in surgery-she was completely enveloped in adhesions. He was able to get both ovaries out successfully. He also cleaned her teeth (that were beyond nasty). She is recuperating very well.

$/24/10-Abbie is one happy sweeet girl. She is runnning and playing with the other dogs and is ADOPTION FEE: $250-fully vetted.
