My Story

You're My Only Hope (aka Hope) is feisty and snuggly. She is the smallest one in her litter and also the smartest. Who was the first to figure out eating independently? Hope! Who was the first to escape her enclosure? Hope! Who was the first to escape every subsequent version of the enclosure? Hope! She cannot be outsmarted. This kitten loves running around with her siblings but also knows how to enjoy solo quiet time. If given the choice between playing with a sibling and playing with one of the humans in her house, her choice will depend on who has the best toy. She loves going on adventures and exploring the house, but will also lay in your arms happily for long periods. She is not afraid of dogs, as long as she is being held. Her foster believes if she is introduced slowly to them, she'll share space with dogs nicely. Part of what has led Hope to be such a cute blend of independence and cuddliness is that she has a condition called MegaEsophagus (aka MegE). This means mealtime looks a little different for her. She's on a wet food diet, and needs to be held upright while eating and directly after. Then, she should be put in a calm place to rest, rather than allowed to run wild with her siblings immediately. Hope has her own pink, rainbow, unicorn baby doll carrier that her foster wears to carry her around after her meals. The song that best fits Hope's personality was originally "Independent" by Weezy. However, since her diagnosis, her song is now "Miss Independent" by Kelly Clarkson. Notice the line, "What happened to miss independent?" The answer? She has megaesophagus. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
