My Story

Okay I would like to start by explaining how we as a rescue, go about guess-timating a cats breed or mix of breeds. First and foremost we have an AI application that scans a cat’s photo and uses all the characteristics it sees to place a percentage of breed onto the cat. The things I do not like about the app are its practice of calling Tabby, Tortie, Tuxedo and calico breeds. These are colt pattern distinctions that can appear in many breeds but the app sees those and just runs with it and then it is left up to us to use our own experience to decide. Also as with this kitten Yin and so far one of his sisters it has cat breeds that Petfinder has not included in its list so far . Yin has the First and second issue as he is coming up as Tabby and Sokoke . Here is some info on the Sokoke They developed in the late 1970s. Originally, they developed from the ancient khadzonzo, which existed in eastern Kenya. They were standardized quite quickly and are recognized by the four major cat pedigree registry organizations. This breed is named after the Arabuko Sokoke National Forest. This was where the bloodline started. However, the cat was mostly developed in Denmark and the United States. This cat typically has a brown tabby coat. They can come in some other colors, however. They can also breed with other cats, which can create other patterns as well. Height: 7–8 inches Weight: 6–10 pounds Lifespan: 9–15 years Colors: Brown tabby Suitable for: Homes with children and dogs Temperament: Athletic, playful, intelligent When I first saw these kittens the first thought that crossed my mind was “I don’t think I’ve ever seen such healthy robust kittens in my life!” And this was before scanning them, as it turns out The Sokoke is known for its extremely good health and has no known health afflictions tied to its breed. Great with kids and Dogs! If you would like to meet yin or any of his siblings please call me directly at 661-317-2253
