My Story

Yam, a vivacious five-year-old shorthaired orange tabby, is a beacon of charm and playfulness at the shelter. With her striking ginger coat and magnetic personality, she's quick to capture the hearts of all who meet her. Yam adores attention and craves affection, reveling in every pet and cuddle bestowed upon her. However, she dreams of a home where she can be the sole recipient of love, relishing in all the affection without sharing the spotlight with other feline friends. Yam's spirited nature shines brightest during playtime, where she showcases her agility and zest for life. While she adores companionship, she's happiest in an environment free from the hustle and bustle of children. With her boundless energy and affectionate disposition, Yam promises endless joy and companionship to the lucky family that welcomes her into their hearts and home. Yam is FIV+ and FIV+ cats can live a long, happy life, but should not go to a home with FIV-negative cats. If you are interested in adopting Yam, call the APL at 217-544-7387 or fill out an application at apl-shelter.org!
