Winter (Osteochondrodysplasia)

This is Winter! Winter is a gorgeous, beautiful, cloud of happiness and joy. She is a purebred chinchilla Highland Scottish Fold from Kuwait that was surrendered because her feet “looked weird”. Winter has been through so much in this short life but somehow has come out so joyful, kind, and gentle. She really is amazing in every way. When she arrived in the US she didn’t want to move around or walk too much. This is because she has Osteochondrodysplasia, the Scottish Fold disease. The abnormality that causes their ears to be folded also leads to cartilage issues throughout the body. For Winter it caused short feet and a short tail. This would be why her “feet look weird”. She was sent to the US because we have a drug called Solensia that Kuwait does not have. This is a drug she will need likely every month for the rest of her life. It’s a shot and will have to be done at a vet office. Typically it costs $80-$100 per month, depending on location. Once we got her first shot of Solensia, her world changed. She can now walk, run, and jump like never before. Winter would do amazing in a home with one or two other cats that are gentle and won’t hurt her. She has so defense in her and wouldn’t stick up for herself. Alone would be fine too. Dogs would probably be ok if they don’t have any prey drive and are very comfortable with cats. She lives to be pet, brushed and held. She will need brushing probably every other day. Are you the perfect home for Winter? She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested FIV/Felv negative.
