Winnie is part of the Kitty Keeper program! She is very proud to be an ambassador for the shelter! (She also likes to gossip a little.)
Winnie came to GM from Cherokee AC for a better chance at adoption. Winnie is a wonderful middle-aged female cat, who was a bit withdrawn when she came to GM. You'll notice that Winnie has a bit 'more to love,' as they say. Thats why she spent time in a foster home to get to a healthier weight.
The foster Mom reports that Winnie is now a social, loving companion who likes being brushed and petted. She sometimes plays by herself with a crinkle ball but prefers it when her human gets out the wand toy with the mouse at the end. She is a very good cuddler and a champion sunspot finder.
Winnie will greet you in the morning with her breakfast song. Eating is her favorite pastime followed by napping. When shes not eating or napping, she enjoys following her human around the house, keeping up with what they are up to. She also enjoys sleeping in the bed at night with her humans. She makes a fantastic cuddle buddy!
Unfortunately, she doesn't like other cats and dogs. While she is not outwardly aggressive, we recommend she is an only kitty. Winnie can be very personable, but she's also a quiet cat that is content to go off and do her own thing.
Any potential adopters will need to be committed to keeping an eye on Winnies weight, by controlling the amount of food offered. She is currently on a weight loss program and it seems to be going well! We know she would like to be out of the shelter in a calm forever home, and we know that her personality will really shine in that environment! She will need to be in a home where there is plenty of room to roam because moving around is great exercise for her. She cannot be adopted into a home where she will live in a single room. Winnie loves to go on her supervised walks a few times a week around the shelter and even likes to run up the stairs. She would love to continue exercising in her new home! She is also front paw declawed. She does have arthritis so she is on a monthly infection called Solensia, which is given at the vet. And she takes Gabapentin once a day. This may be able to be weaned once she is at a healthy weight. Her special diet is Royal Canin Satiety dry and canned.
Please come meet this fantastic girl. She may not be super social at the shelter, but once in a home, she is a totally different kitty!
