My Story

Violet was born on a rural farm where she was discovered by a Good Samaritan who noticed she walked funny and had balance issues. At first, she thought Violet might have cerebellar hypoplasia (CH - “wobbly cat syndrome”) and she worried that Violet would be easy prey for dogs and other predators. She took Violet home and reached out to us for help. We took Violet in and quickly realized that she does not have CH. She has balance issues and walks stiffly, but she doesn’t have the hallmark symptoms of CH - intentional tremors, etc. Our vet believes Violet has a condition that causes her to be stiff in her gait and in moving her legs, although we aren’t quite sure what it is. Regardless, Violet’s condition has remained the same during her time with us, so we do not believe it’s a progressive condition. She doesn’t let her limitations stop her, though - she loves to play with toys and the other cats and it’s funny to see her hop in the air to pounce on toys. She even “runs” down the hall when it’s time for their daily canned food dinner - her “run” is a mix of hopping and wobbling as fast as she can! Violet will need a home without stairs or where stairs can be very securely closed off. She is good about using a low-entry litter pan, although she will sometimes tip over and need a quick clean up from litter stuck to her fur. She lives with a cat-friendly dog and several other cats and does great. She is one of the most affectionate kitties we’ve met and she absolutely loves to be brushed - something she needs her owner to do every couple days because she isn’t able to fully groom herself normally. She also loves to be picked up and put on your lap/chest while you watch tv - she will lay there purring for as long as you let her. She would be a good companion for someone who could benefit from an emotional support animal because she needs a little extra care and loves to be held and brushed. Violet is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and combo tested. Her adoption fee will be waived to the perfect home. You can apply to adopt her at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FFMO/Cat
