My Story

Valerie is an amazingly sweet little girl. She spent a winter outside, using a garage for safety and escape from the elements. Various people in the are were leaving her food and water, but they weren't able to get close. They had asked people all over if the kitten belonged to anyone. Eventually one of the people was able to trap her. She was immediately spayed, vaccinated, tested, and microchipped and Free to Be Me Rescue took her in. She never once hissed or growled or swatted, but she was so incredibly nervous and scared. Valerie was kept in a large dog crate for weeks. She allowed - and loved - getting petted by her foster mom but she wouldn't even come out of her hidey bed. With patience and lots of love, Valerie started coming out of the crate. Then she started playing with toys overnight. Now she meets mom at the door and rolls over for petting and belly rubs. She plays with interactive toys and and all kinds of felt mice. Valerie is still spooked by any new noises or quick movements, but she has come so far. A quiet home with an understanding family or person is what would be best for Valerie.
