This shy boy came in as a "feral" cat, and we found him to be much too friendly and gentle to be returned to life strictly outdoors. This turned out to be a truly life-saving decision for Unus, as during his time in the shelter, he developed FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), a rare complication from a mutation of a common feline upper respiratory virus. FIP used to always be fatal, but a recent breakthrough in treatment has given FIP cats a way to beat the disease! Unus was part of a trial, one of the last batches of trial cats before the treatment received FDA approval last month. Unus's treatment lasted 5 months. He is left with some mild neurological symptoms that give him an odd gait, but otherwise Unus is a normal, loving cat - and he has none of his formal feral background left, after so much daily hands-on care from his team at the shelter! You can tell he is grateful to be feeling better, and he is ready to be some lucky family's forever kitty. He has been good with both cats and dogs during his stay with us (where he has been appointed as one of the temporary office cats). Video Coming Soon All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Unus - FIP SURVIVOR is a suggested minimum of $40 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you!
