Ucey (pronounced like "you see") is about 13 years old. She doesn’t really know her name so her new family can change it to whatever they may prefer. Her family actually just usually referred to her as “Hey Buddy” or Upstairs Cat because she primarily spent the majority of her time on the upstairs level of the home and claimed it as her own.
It seems like Ucey would likely do best in a home without other cats where she can have a space just for herself. Although she has lived with other cats her entire life and she can tolerate them, she would likely be happier on her own with someone who doesn’t mind that she may only want to be a lap cat about 50% of the time and the other time may prefer solitude and gazing out the window. When she does want to spend time with her human, she will either sit next to or directly on your lap but sometimes she will choose to hang out by herself.
Ucey is a pretty quiet cat but she has learned to train her family member to give her treats every day both before he goes to work and when he gets home from work – pretty smart cat! She likes to play with wand toys and strings and she also likes to chase the other cats in the house (even if they may not care for it but it’s all in play). She also appreciates a good scratching post.
She doesn’t currently sleep with her family member but it doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t in a home with fewer cats – there just isn’t enough room for everybody now. Please give this shy girl a chance to blossom in her retirement years in a quiet home.
