My Story

Tux is a big, beautiful cat!. He has a handsome black and white coat and beautiful green eyes. He is exceptionally smart and has learned how to sit for treats. Once he feels safe in his environment and trusts his human, Tux likes to jump up in laps to make biscuits and have a bath. Tux requires a cat-savvy human and a nice big space to call his own. Like a lot of humans, Tux suffers from anxiety. We treat him every morning with a little bit of "kitty prozac" paste to the inside of his ears. He has no problem taking his medicine, but there is a small monthly cost for his medicine. This big fella has a heart of gold on the inside, but sometimes his wires get a little crossed and you need to give him his space. He loves to hang out on our enclosed catio and watch the birds. Close behind watching the wildlife in our backyard is Tux's second favorite activity: curling up on shoes! He will come up to you and nuzzle your feet so that you can bend over and scratch his ears. Tux recently went through a few months of struggles with his teeth that ultimately ended in a diagnosis of Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions. Poor guy had to have ALL of his teeth removed! But believe it or not, cats can still eat dry food normally without any teeth and Tux is MUCH happier now that he doesn't have any pain when he eats! Every once in a while, his gums will get inflamed again and he'll need a steroid injection, but then he goes right back to gobbling down his food to maintain his figure. Tux would do best as an only cat or he could be adopted with another cat from the shelter with whom he has made friends. He is an Alpha Cat so please ask an adoption counsellor who his best match would be. Negative for FIV, and FeLK, current on vaccinations, and neutered. As a senior, Tux benefits from our reduced adoption fee. Vet records are provided to Adopters.
