My Story

Female, approx 1 yr, DSH Personality: calm, friendly, snuggly, talkative, great with other cats It's a bright, sunshine-y Sunny day! Sweet Sunny here has been patiently raising her litter of 7, including 3 adorable mini-me versions of herself. They've now gotten so big that she literally has to sit on them to wrangle them in, so it's time for them to leave the nest and for Sunny to find her own home! Not saying Sunny doesn't like other cats. She LOVES other adult cats. Like, her kittens are fine and all, but she really appreciates some adult companionship. In fact, Sunny is so good with other cats that it would make our hearts sing if she could go to a home with other cats. Do you think your solo cat is lonely? Sunny might just be the fix. And of course people are cool with her, too. With people, she has the most endearing habit of leaning into her foster mom's hand and gazing into her eyes. She has a little bit of a queen streak and especially loves to lie on soft surfaces, like cat beds, towels or blankets. Sunny loves to roll around on her back and will sometimes playfully catch a human's ankle as someone walks by but she never uses her claws and it's never aggressive. When she wants food she weaves closely around foster mom's ankles. So, basically, she loves an ankle. Sunny sometimes hops up and sits in foster mom's lap but she is not a needy cat. She is content to look out the window or hang out quietly watching her kittens chase each other and tumble and wrestle with each other. We don't know yet what toys she likes to play with, because she spends her time playing with her kittens. But now it's time for Sunny to set out on new single lady adventures in her forever home. Apply today to meet Sunny! You can see more Sunny cuteness on Instagram @kalahari_kitties If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
