Stew

Stew is still awaiting his forever home. He is not a cat that will sit on your lap and purr, and it will take some time before he feels comfortable with you. In all honesty, if you have a cat friendly dog, he will probably love your dog more than you. He is incredibly sweet, and wants so much to love, but unfortunately we got him just a bit too late in the 'socialization window' of his life to teach him that humans are trustworthy. He tries to let his guard down, but likely never will completely, and is easily spooked. He has been in his current foster home 1.5 years, and was taken in from an outdoor colony situation at about 3 months old. He loves other animals, and will gladly play with younger fosters and his foster dog sister but is less trusting of humans. It will take time and a lot of patience, as well as a limited space initially (to force contact and lessen hiding) to begin to form trust with him. This doesn't make him defective or unworthy, and as his foster mom will tell you, having him head boop her hand for a pet makes her feel like she has won the lottery.
