My Story

Sigmund Freud, AKA Siggy, is a purebred ragdoll, 2.5 years old. He is so sweet, craves human attention -- and gets along with all animals that he has encountered so far, dogs or cats do not phase him! He is chatty and LOVES to explore. Siggy is a pretty laid back boy with a very mellow personality typical of the ragdoll breed. Siggy was an owner surrender; he developed bladder stones that needed taken care of surgically, and the family opted to surrender him for care. He has now had his stones removed surgically, will likely require a lifelong prescription urinary diet and will need monitored for reoccurrence. He is using a litterbox very consistently but not perfectly, but need constant supervision when he is around blankets or anything soft (cushions, couch, etc) because he was urinating outside of his box for several months due to pain from his bladder stones. He had bladder pain for months prior to surgery, and will require retraining to learn to always use his litterbox again. Siggy will require an owner with patience and tolerance, as he learns to navigate a pain free world again. Siggy is the sweetest, most mellow boy -- he doesn't seem to be bothered by other cats or dogs (he is in fact extremely curious about them), is quick to purr and gives fantastic head butts. While he isn't overly playful, he is absolutely gorgeous; his coat is long and thick, and will require diligent maintenance. Siggy weighs about 16 pounds, and while he could stand to lose a couple pounds, he is a BIG boy! Please research this breed and the care required before applying to adopt him. All cats adopted through our rescue are age appropriately vaccinated including rabies & FVRCP/Feline Leukemia vaccines, dewormed & free of fleas, combo tested (negative unless otherwise noted), microchipped and spayed/neutered before adoptions are finalized. If you would like to adopt, please fill out the application through the link or the website at -www.whiskersofohio.org - please note that the "I'm interested" tab on Petfinder does NOT act as an application, this should only be used for specific questions before committing to an adoption. You will receive an email confirmation when your application goes through. We make no breed guarantees, we are a rescue, not a breeder. Please only apply for a specific kitten if you are committed to adopting! Our workers are all volunteers and it takes time to process applications. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, with ZERO paid workers or admins. Free transport is regularly available to Wayne/Holmes County areas! We do have the ability to fly a cat or pair of kittens via Southwest's SWATT program to any location served by Southwest Airlines. It isn't free but has been a great way to transport animals in a timely manner.
