My Story

Some HSWA cats may be in foster homes and need an appointment to be seen. Please call 205/554-0011, or email [email protected] for a quicker response, to request an appointment to see a cat and to check for availability. For non-HSWA cats, please use the contact information in the description.

I know you may not believe me, but I can walk!! It is just easier lying down.

Bless Sam's heart. He is living proof that you cannot judge a cat by his scars. He is a battle-scarred veteran, vet-estimated at approximately 11 1/2 years old (7/09) who loves to nurture other cats, especially the kittens or the ones who are a little withdrawn or frightened. They just gravitate to him and he welcomes them with open paws. Sam was found prowling around storage units and was fed and taken care of by a good Samaritan and brought to HSWA. He has learned to trust people but because he still has the battered ears and a very light facial scar from his wilder and wooly days, people are slow to trust him. He just wants a chance. Sam has a fast heart rate and now has to take inexpensive medication daily to keep the rate normal. This is a very small price to pay for the loyalty of a loving guy.

Negative for FIV/FeLK.

Our adoption fee is $75. Read up on our adoption process. Then, if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt Sam, submit a Word online application form.
