Neutered Male Age: 2 Years A440091 More About Salem: I am a young, social guy, fun and playful. Based on my time here at the shelter I seem to do well with other cats. I was originally found as a stray so we have no history on my behavior in a home. I seem very confident, but it is still recommended that I start in a small space in my new home, with easy access to my litter box, and time to decompress before introducing me to any resident pets. I am a high energy cat used to living outdoors prior to coming into the shelter. I will likely be able to adjust to being an indoor-only cat, but I will require appropriate play and mental stimulation. Engage in play appealing to the natural prey cycle of a cat and their individual preference for chasing an interactive toy across the ground/on furniture/etc. Consider feeding me using a puzzle - this could be as simple as hiding a few treats around my cat tree, rolling a couple of treats in a paper ball, etc. I will need plenty of high surfaces (cat trees, cat-proofed shelves or perches) for resting and playing. I may benefit from safe outdoor area, depending on the environment. My adopter could explore a catio, cat tent, or walking on a harness once I am more comfortable being handled. The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon - 4:30 pm with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
