You can save animals like Sadie by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please click here and email the questionnaire to [email protected].
Sadie has the key to your heart. This sweet girl is a gentle and loving soul. She came to a NC shelter, through no fault of her own. As soon as we saw her, we knew we had to save her. And after meeting this tender and playful girl, we knew we had made the right choice.
Sadie is a medium to large sized cat with beautiful medium black & white fur. It is soft and her tail is quite lovely. We believe that she is about 2.5 years young. She is declawed on her front paws.
Sadie is a curious soul...who has an affinity for the printer. So if you need someone to guard your copies, Sadie will proudly keep an eye on them for you. Sadie is also a playful girl. She'll definitely need a home with another young cat who would enjoy her company or with an owner who will play with her and give her toys to play with and windows to look out of during the day.
And Sadie is a playful soul...who enjoys finding "prey" (i.e. pen caps, small toys, etc.) to carry around for all the world to see. Dashing after the laser pointer and romping with her foster kitty friends keep Sadie quite content. She loves to climb and often perches on the top of her cat tree to keep an eye on everything around her.
And finally, Sadie is a loving soul. She loves to be petted and rubbed but she definitely isn't overbearing about it. When she's missed you a lot, she will headbutt your face--which is an ultimate sign of cat love. She is really just likes to relax and spend time around her family--including a boisterous 3 year old.
However there is more to Sadie's story...
After a busy playtime, Sadie began to pant a little more than usual. So she was taken into the vet to ensure her health. After seeing a few doctors, it was discovered that the sac around Sadie's heart has a small hole in it. In addition to this, her organs are located in the "wrong places"--with her liver next to her heart. Because of this genetic abnormality, Sadie's liver appears to be encroaching on the hole in her heart.
Surgery is an option, however there are a number of other complications that could arise from it (beyond just the surgery itself) and a number of things that could happen without the surgery. This is not a common occurrence, so there are not any real estimates on her outcome--either with or without the surgery. After consulting with 2 cardiologists, we have decided not to do the surgery and allow her to live her life with the joy and passion she is filled with now.
Everyone that meets her loves her and we want her to have the best quality life she can--whether that is 1 year or 11 years (we never really know how long any kitty will live). So we are looking for a special soul--one who is as special as Sadie is--to love her for as long as she will grace the world with her presence. If you think this might be you, please email Erica, her foster mom, at
[email protected]. We'll be happy to explain the details of her condition...and her adopter will receive all of her vet paperwork.
