My Story

Hi, I'm Rupert. I'm from Minnesota. From the foster: Rupert is bold, affectionate and confident. He acclimates quickly to new places, he is a litterbox pro, and he is not timid or shy. He will introduce himself to all visitors, and especially loves to get close, and cuddle. He is recovering from dermatitis, and as a result does not love to be pet so much. It is better to let Rupert come to you. He likes to eat, and has been known to clean plates if left unattended ;). He does not like the vacuum cleaner, and gets spooked by strange sounds. He would do well with respectful children, however he does not like to be grabbed, and will let you know by using his mouth. He seems to have a sensitive stomach and sensitive skin. His ideal forever home would help him discover his environmental/food irritants so that he can avoid triggers, and relieve stress/ discomfort. Medical Bio: Hi! I'm Rupert, I came to TBB with a few medical concerns we needed to address. I had a grade 3/6 heart murmur and some concerns for my skin and coat health. The skin issues mainly related to previous dermatitis that is healing and some chin acne however no follow up should be needed if these conditions are stable. Shallow stainless steel or ceramic dishes will be best for me to eat from. An echocardiogram was pursued with a cardiology specialist who diagnosed the condition that causes the murmur as hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. This means that the valves in the left atrium of my heart are functioning abnormally, however the size of my heart muscle is not enlarged at this time which is good news. I will be starting on heart medication and rechecks echocardiograms are recommended every 6 months at this time, but my future family should consult a primary care vet for future recommendations on any follow up care needed. Medications and additional rechecks beyond adoption will be the responsibility of my new purrever family! I can't wait to meet you!"
