Ruby was not much more than a kitten herself when we got her as a pregnant stray. She was brought to us in a sealed cooler on a hot day, because the homeowner whose house she had been hanging around didn't want her there if she was pregnant and didn't have a cat carrier. She was very overheated when we got her, but she recovered well.
