My Story

For inquiries contact [email protected]. Information and application are at www.staf.org. This lovely boy came in from a TNR site along with several other cats that were out fending for themselves. River is a shy and reserved boy that seems to bond better with other cats than with humans unless he knows and trusts you. River has been at our shelter for several years and he does not actively seek attention, but if you build a relationship with him, he will head butt your hand to let you know he is interested in making friends. We find that oftentimes when cats come from a colony, they can bond more with their feline friends, so River would most likely really enjoy the company of gentle feline companions. He is not a needy guy, so he would do well only if you can take the time to build a friendship with him on his terms. Starting out with a tall cat tree where he can be up high would help him acclimate since he can scope out his environment to ensure he's safe and secure. Eventually, he will realize that pets on his head and neck are more easily offered from a lap. His home should be calm, no small children or dogs since he gets overstimulated and anxious easily, and with a low-energy vibe so he can acclimate and feel comfortable. If you have the patience to offer him some quiet conversation with slow blinks, a gentle hand, and maybe some fishy treats, in return, he will get comfortable and support your life in a way that is unique to every serene ebb and flow! DOB 2019 Cat adoption information and application can be found at www.staf.org. All cats and kittens have been vet-checked, spayed/neutered, and are up-to-date on vaccinations. Adoption fee includes carrier, scratching pad, starter pack of food and litter, and toy. We prefer kittens be adopted in pairs. We offer free advice anytime about your adopted cat. If, for any reason, it doesn't work out, we will take the cat back, anytime in the future. Potential adopters must be interviewed in person, at the shelter, and live within 150 miles of Cincinnati. We will ask you to return to the shelter for a second visit to be sure of your decision. Sorry, we do not ship our cats or kittens! Please email Jean at [email protected] for more info. on adopting!
