My Story

My foster writes: Hi, my name is Queenie, and it fits me just right. I love domestic life. I am often a lovebug and prefer to sleep right next to or near my human. I purr loudly and frequently. I know all the cat toys and get excited when I play with them. I also have excellent litterbox behavior. I would be happiest if I were the only animal in the household. I so want to go to a loving forever home and cuddle up next to my forever human. A volunteer writes: Like a dog rushing to say hi, Queenie greets enthusiastically! Confidently leaning her cheeks in my hand, Queenie started telling me a story that seemed to begin in the middle. I love when cats start talking and expect you to keep up. I did my best and gathered that her neighbors are so noisy and she has no idea why, the food and treats have been great, but there's so much going on all the time. Queenie is the type of kitty who gets a bit distracted by the everyday shelter sights and sounds, like noisy neighbors, and she isn't always sure how to manage interruptions especially when she's making new friends. Queenie seemed puzzled when I didn't see what she saw and then follow her lead. She's trying, but she's also royalty so there's a bit of a learning curve. Things are beginning to look up! Especially considering that just a few years ago Queenie was found abandoned in a carrier in the rain. She was adopted and brought back and is currently looking for a soft place to land with someone who will listen to her stories and share in her excitement at welcoming new things on her own terms. What my friends at ACC say about me: Queenie was in the den with very large pupils, but poked her head out when called, sniffed treats and then allowed and enjoyed petting, warming up and leaning in for cheek rubbing. This went on for a little while and then she hissed without warning, and after a pause allowed and enjoyed more cheek rubs. She could not be fully coaxed out of the den. Queenie interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting but can become nervous and may hiss. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in nervous cat behavior that can lead to defensiveness.
