My Story

AN APPLICATION IS REQUIRED COPY AND PASTE THE FOLLOWING LINK FOR APPLICATION: www.columbianacountyhumanesociety.com My name is Quokka, apparently the people here thought I was a cute like some Australian macropod, said they're always smiling like me (as you can see in my 2nd picture) so they named me after this creature. I am about 3 years old and came to the shelter with a horrible upper respiratory infection, but now after they got me the appropriate care, I am feeling great, ready to put my best foot forward and work on getting a family of my very own! I get along with my catmates, even though I can be a bit shy at first. I really love to lounge around ponder some of life's deeper questions like.. why does that bee outside seem to be in such a hurry, flapping it's wings so fast I can barely see them or what is wrong with all the squirrels, they run up, they run down, they run up, they run down.. who has that kind of energy to waste.. I perk up and stare intently but I am perfectly content being here for the observation of such silliness. If you are one that appreciates the pondering of such things, maybe you'd like to join in my quest for answers to life's little mysteries. Once you submit an application online, it will be reviewed and our adoption coordinator will be in contact with you. This may take a couple days, especially with puppies, we tend to get more applications on puppies to sort through, so please be patient. Successful adoptions and placement of our animals is taken very seriously here at CCHS so, not every application will be approved.. We must make certain that each animal is placed in a home that best suits the needs of the animal and the needs of the family and home where the animal is being placed. As always, if you have another dog in the home, we do REQUIRE a meet and greet prior to final decisions being made by all parties involved. This has proven to be best for the animal and the potential adopters in attempts to prevent issues once getting your new pet into their fur-ever homes, as much as we love each and every one of them, we don’t want them to get returned. Our animals come up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed/neutered, however, we always recommend taking any new pet to your primary veterinarian for a well check to get them established for routine care. Please feel free to fill out your inquiry/application through the link provided in this ad or visit our website at columbianacountyhumanesociety.com and fill out the pre-adoption form there.
