Meet Pigeon! Pigeon is a big boy who probably has endless stories to tell, if we could only understand him. He definitely has some battle scars that show he had a hard life on the streets. Pigeon came to us with a badly broken pelvis, probably caused by being hit by a car. Despite all the pain he was in when he first met us, he was a sweet and tolerant boy. He loves having his ears and chin scratched, and enjoys playing with little toys in his kennel. He has a bit of a scary face, but underneath he has a heart of gold. He loves his head scratches and likes his back scratched, too.
Since he's come to stay with us, he's even found his voice. Now he'll give us a little meow to let us know he wants some attention (and a louder one when he wants his wet food; he has priorities). He likes to come snuggle with us on our cleaning shifts, and enjoys lounging on the cat trees. Pigeon is a chill, laid-back boy who doesn't need much more than a gentle hand and a soft bed to be content.
Pigeon recovered 90% of the way from his broken pelvis, but it did impact his colon. He needs 1/4 of a teaspoon of Miralax every day to make sure things keep moving. Thankfully, he will eat it if we mix it into wet food, so it's not difficult to make sure he is medicated. He also has FIV, which can impact his immune system. Cats with FIV can live happy, healthy lives if kept entirely indoors, but it is contagious to other cats. Pigeon does well with other cats at the center, so he could be in a home with others as long as they aren't dominant or aggressive. He is very sensitive about his hind end being touched, so we would not recommend him for a home with children. He has not been tested with dogs.
Pigeon is estimated to be about 5 years old as of December 2023. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. With an approved application, his adoption fee is $10.60.
