My Story

Meet Pickle and Wendell, a bonded pair of former street cats looking for their forever home! They are approximately 1-2 years old. This very special pair met in foster care and have been inseparable since. Wendell is a petite, grey gentleman with a tiny tuft of white fur on his chest and the squeakiest meow you’ve ever heard. When he’s playing with his favorite mouse toys, his tail gets bushy and he jumps vertically up in the air like a cartoon cat. Wendell is the jumpier (in all senses) of the pair, but very, very, very affectionate. Once afraid of human hands, he now can’t get enough of pets. He runs over for pets when his name is called, and continuously rolls over on his stomach demanding more, like a rotisserie cat. He might run away if he’s startled, but comes back running for pets and attention in about 3 seconds. He may have been born in the streets, but he shows all the signs of a Velcro cat. Pickle is a young, ear-tipped tabby with striking black stripes along her back and hind legs, and gorgeous spots on her stomach, which she loves to show off when playing with her favorite toys. Pickle is the more cerebral of the pair, with the cutest head tilt when she’s observing your strange human activities. A few weeks ago, Pickle decided that she wanted pets after weeks of observing Wendell, and every morning since she follows her foster mom into the bathroom for scratches and affection. She is also a very patient and gentle big sister to Wendell. Pickle and Wendell have come a long way since entering foster care last November. With continued love and patience from a cat-savvy parent(s), they will blossom into loving companions. Both are now seeking out human company and will almost certainly become lap cats with time. They have impeccable litterbox habits and house manners and are truly a delight and joy. What Pickle and Wendell are looking for in a home: - They want to stay together forever and must be adopted as a pair. They’re best friends who share toys, food, and the litterbox. - They’re new-ish to indoor life with humans, so they need a kind and patient guide to help them continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers make them nervous. - They’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust. - They feel at ease in a quiet and calm environment. - They need to live indoors only. - They have a positive history with other cats. - They have no known history with dogs. - They need an adult-only home, or a home with older, cat-savvy teens. - Wendell will likely benefit from gabapentin before vet visits to calm his nerves. All Alley Cat Projects cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Thank you for your interest in adopting Pickle and Wendell! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: https://bit.ly/ACPAdoptionForm Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match. Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we appreciate your understanding.
