Peridot: #ADOPTABLE from her foster home in Nanaimo
Female, domestic short hair, brown tabby with white
If Peridot's magnificent eyes don't work their magic on you, then surely her adorable croaky meows will. Her foster parents affectionately call her "Squawky-Doo", but don't worry, she always uses a polite indoor voice when conversing or expressing her wishes.
When Peridot settles in and is comfortable with you, she'll eagerly ask for affection, even going so far as to do a little jump to meet your petting hand as you lean down. She loves hanging out on her foster parents' bed, and needs a home where she is welcome in the bedroom. If you spend a lot of time there napping or reading, even better!
Peridot co-habitated with other cats in her foster home and got along well with all of them. When she was first getting used to indoor life and a new environment, having confident, friendly cats around really helped bring her out of her shell and teach her she could trust people. She hasn't expressed an interest in having a BFF (best feline friend) to bond with, but values the presence of calm, nice cats who are not overbearing in their love for fellow felines.
Peridot likes catnip, and playing with various toys when the mood strikes her. She is engaging and enthusiastic, but also content to sit back and observe.
While Peridot loves being petted and will even show her appreciation by drooling in delight, it's important to watch her body language to avoid receiving a little swat that is the result of nervousness or overstimulation. While she only does this rarely now, adjusting to new people and a new home may result in a bit more of it until she feels good and settled in. Your patience and understanding will be well worth it, and soon you'll have yourself a loyal, loving family member with a charming personality. Squawky-Doo is waiting for you!
Peridot will need to start her journey in her new home in a safe room. This will let her get used to the new sounds, smells and people. Spending time with her in this space will help you build a relationship with her.
Peridot is looking for a quiet and predictable home where her humans are home quite a bit. Her new family will need to be patient as she settles in and gets used to her new environment.

Veterinary Information
• Peridot has been spayed
• Peridot had a comprehensive dental done when she came into care. She had a fractured upper canine tooth that required removal, and one of her pre-molars was noted to be missing. She was found to have good oral health at a recent checkup. A home oral hygiene regimen such as daily tooth brushing, oral gel, water additive, dental powders added to wet food, or dental treats can also reduce bacteria and plaque buildup and are recommended to help support good oral health. Your vet can advise on the best products to help with dental care.
