My Story

Pepper is a very sweet cat who is a total love bug once she knows you. She is timid at first (for about the first day) and then becomes a total lap cat. She will greet you at the door and come running towards you- chirping the whole way. She prefers to nap either in your lap or next to you. If you are not around, she will curl up in hidey holes but she is not hiding. She just prefers to sleep half hidden. She does fine around cats and adjusts quickly to large laid back dogs. She hasn’t been around small dogs or children but we see no reason why she wouldn’t do fine with them. She does not play. Her foster home has tried and tried to get her to play but she runs from the toys. Perhaps you will have better luck? "If the cat gets hungry enough, it'll eat." While this phrase applies to most cats and cat food preferences, this is not true for Pepper. Pepper is a finicky cat as we found out the hard way. She simply stopped eating while we tried desperately to find a food she liked. She even spent some time at the vet's office due to her anorexia! Pepper is currently in a foster home for some fattening up (it may not look like it in the pictures but she is rather skinny). We have found two cat foods that she will eat. One is the original Whiskas dry food and the other is the Purina Kitten Chow "Nurturing Formula" (it's the one in the yellow bag). Her new family needs to be committed to making sure that she access to at least one of those foods at all times. You can feel free to experiment and see if there is something else she will eat but you cannot just switch her over with out making absolutely sure that she is eating it. She reached 4.06 lbs at one point and we do not want her to go back to that! She is currently waiting for adoption at the Petsmart in Lexington.
