My Story

Pep (formally 'Pep Le Mew) is a black and white kitten looking for his forever home with another kitten or playful young cat. He would love for his littermate, Wishbone, to be his best friend for life. However, he would also be a good playmate for another young cat who needs a friend!Looks:Black and white, with an adorable black nose!Greenish-yellow eyesFluffier than his brothers. He'll likely be a 'medium hair' (not truly short or longhair) when he's all grown upPersonality:Pep is a rambunctious, playful kitten. He has lots of energy and would love for his new home to have lots of room to play chase and wrestle with his kitty playmate(s). He also loves toys all of kinds.Special traits:Pepe is a natural-born bug hunter! He would love to help you keep your home free of house flies and any other bugs that sneak inside.Likes:'Cat dancer' toy - this is his FAVORITE!A baking sheet to cool off with when it's warm (seriously)Roughhousing with his brothers (especially Wishbone, who's closest to him in size)Wand toys and hoodie stringsWet foodThe 'whack-a-mole' toyCat tunnelsDislikes:Wind in his whiskers (he tries to groom it off)Sharing the food bowl (he'll need to have his very own!)Handling Preferences:Pep will tolerate being picked up, kissed, and snuggled, but he gets wiggly after a few seconds. When he's ready for pets and snuggles, he comes up to you purring to ask for them!Prefers pets around the head/neck (not the belly, please)Future Household:He has done well with the resident cats in his foster home, including respecting boundaries with the senior kitty.Pep hasn't met a dog or any kids yet, but he is a confident little guy. He would probably do best in a home with humans who understand and respect when he does and doesn't want to be pet/cuddled.Background:Pepe and his littermates were born to a stray mama kitty in a local funeral home garage. A Good Samaritan was worried about the kittens coming to harm as they got bigger, so they were brought to KAR to get vaccinated, fixed, and placed in loving forever homes. His foster parents are Brook V. The adoption fee for Pepe is $140. If more than one cat or kitten is adopted the adoption fees are discounted. Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Pepe. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue cats & kittens are spayed or neutered and feline leukemia tested prior to adoption. They also are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. All are given distemper vaccinations and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter.
