Nona is a shy, but VERY affectionate, lap cat who is looking for her own person in a home without other cats. She really needs someone to take a chance on her so she can get out of her multi-cat foster home and be somewhere she can truly relax and thrive. :)
Nona was rescued as a feral kitten from a south Baltimore alley in 2019. She was adopted, but returned 18 months later because the cat dynamics in her home had changed and one of her feline siblings had started bullying her. :(
Although Nona had previously lived with and gotten along very well with other cats, this experience seems to have given her some PTSD. She started overgrooming (licking certain spots until they are bald) in her previous home when she was being bullied by the other cat, and it took a LONG time to mostly get that to stop in her foster home as she was slowly assimilated back with the other cats. She is still fearful of other cats, so she would do best as an only cat. She is currently living with a calm, cat-friendly senior pit bull who mostly ignores her, so she could probably live with another calm, cat-friendly dog, after gradual introductions.
Like many formerly feral cats, Nona is timid, shy, and quite afraid of new people. BUT.. she absolutely adores "her" human and is the best little lap warmer/snuggle buddy you could ask for once she gets to know you! She has become my work-from-home buddy and comes running whenever I sit down at my desk, where she happily curls up in my lap and will stay there for hours. (And she won't interrupt your Zoom calls!)
She loves to be held, will sit in your lap and watch tv, and will snuggle up in the crook of your arm when you're in bed. She loves to play with toys also! Although it will take her a little bit of time to trust a new person, she's an amazing companion and will reward your patience a thousand times over. She's such a great cat... perfectly lap sized! And she knows how to use a microchip feeder, AND a top entry litter box! She loves the cat climbing wall in her foster home, but her favorite spot is in a sunny window overlooking the backyard.
Nona's ideal home would with a cat-savvy person or couple who can help her settle in somewhere new. She's not a good match for kids, and would likely do best in a relatively quiet home. She is definitely a cat who will take some time to adapt to a new home, but once she is comfortable with you, she'll be your constant snuggling companion! She's just an anxious girl who needs the right environment to feel safe.
