Newfoundland

Newfoundland arrived in September of 2022 when his owner had to go into assisted living. He is very sweet and oh so handsome! He had some trouble with his diet and didn't eat the best in his room full of cats here. He spent a long time in foster care but his foster family feels like he's ready for his forever home. He is currently residing in our Adoptions Lobby. Please come meet him! This is what his amazing foster family has to say about him: Newfie is a total sweetheart of a cat who demands lots of head scratches, cuddles, and attention. He will do best in a home where he isn't sharing the spotlight with too many other pets. He began his time in foster care underweight and uninterested in food; he had been struggling at the shelter while sharing a space many other cats. He also had some minor stomach problems along with the occasional hairball or spit up. However, after spending time in a house with only one other foster cat, he began to relax and eat a little more. Additionally, when the Hermitage vets had him switched to a prescription diet, he started vomiting less, and he eventually fully regained his appetite. After a few months of the new food and a calmer environment, he is now at a healthy weight and plays with toys like a kitten. Potential adopters should have the ability to give him lots of individualized attention, as this will help him to avoid future eating problems and weight fluctuations.
