My Story

Nelson was brought to a local shelter as a stray. He apparently suffered a broken leg prior to being turned in to the shelter. We rescued him to be sure he could get good medical care for the injury. Since the injury could not be surgically repaired, other options had to be looked at. Right now, he is fully active and has no pain so amputation is not the current choice. We will reevaluate at 6 months and if it becomes necessary, the rescue will pay for the vet care. Right now, he is happy, active and a wonderful kitten ready for a home of his own. While Nelson loves all kinds of toys, he has become quite the lap kitty. He hops on the love seat and cuddles with us. Nelson is full of purrs, loves belly rubs and tickle toes. He is so affectionate and appreciative. Inspite of his broken leg, Nelson is a climber. There is no telling where you might find him. As his foster mom, I can attest to that! Based on his activity level and agility, I believe that his leg will be just fine going forward. If you work from home, Nelson makes a great office buddy. His typing skills are questionable, but he is a sweet distraction during otherwise busy days. He loves to play with his roommate, Max (also from the shelter on the same day). They have been together for a few weeks and are buds, but can be adopted separately. Nelson uses his litterbox, but of course will need to be shown where it is and make it easily accessible. Please note: We only accept adoption applications through our website or in person (Facebook and Petfinder inquiries are not considered applications).
