Meet Nellie Mae, a short-haired calico with a heart as warm as her vibrant fur. Nellie Mae is real gem, and she quickly made herself a favorite at her foster home. Nellie Mae arrived at Underdog with her 5 very young kittens. Shortly after arrival, she developed a bad case of infected mammary tissue--now resolved. However, during her diagnosis, our vet staff also identified that she has a fungal lung infection and started her on a course of treatment which will continue until October 2024. The infection is not contagious. The medication is a once daily oral solution. She does not show any symptoms from this infection, but unfortunately, the medication does make her a little gassy. Her last radiographs showed improvement, and we're optimistic that Nellie Mae will make a full recovery. Despite facing these medical challenges, Nellie radiates a steady, gentle, loving energy. She is just as sweet as pie. She keeps her foster humans company watching TV or working from home. Her gentle nature makes her a perfect snuggle buddy, and she delights in purring, making muffins, and soaking up affection. She is exceptionally friendly with children and anyone willing to shower her with love. It is $100 for two adults. Our kitten adoption fee (under 5 mo) is $150. If two kittens are adopted at the same time, our adoption fee is $225 for the pair.
