My Story

When Ned was brought to me as my next foster, he had been living in a cold barn where a kind owner allowed cats to find shelter and some food. He had a terrible upper respiratory infection which affected his ears and eyes as well. He sneezed and was full of congestion. He was rather miserable and very needy so we named him "Needy Ned." This seems funny to us now because after 6 weeks of medical treatment and loving care he no longer needs the "needy" part. He's regained his birthright as a self confident feline of high self esteem. No longer the drab, ratty coat with bits of straw clinging to it. After Ned felt better he caught up on his grooming regime, much like a woman who has recuperated from an illness and finally gets herself a good shampoo and facial. He groomed obsessively for a while. His black coat is now shiny and lustrous. His big green eyes are now bright and beautiful. Whereas he liked to virtually wrap himself around my neck before and luxuriate in my stroking, now, while still very affectionate, he is no longer obsessive about being on our laps or near us at all times. He has become a true cat who enjoys his own company as well as that of his human housemates. He was clearly not a feral cat and was probably abandoned by his owner. The vet seems to think he may be around 5 years old, but he is extremely playful. He adores his little fake mice and will play with them for ages. He also likes the usual cat toys. When we sit down to watch TV he loves to get on our lap and be cradled and petted like a little baby. He's a terribly sweet, loving cat. He uses his litter box to perfection. He has a good appetite and loves to watch local wildlife from a perch by a window or nap in his favorite chair. He makes our house quite cozy. He's no trouble at all. Wouldn't you like a nice sensible cat who will make your house even more of a home and give you lots of appreciation for a warm home and good chow? We will miss our Ned a lot. He is neutered and up on his shots. To apply for adoption, please fill out an on-line application at www.saveohiostrays.org.
