My Story

Munchkin is a sweet boy with a big heart and indomitable spirit. He is energetic, inquisitive, friendly, and affectionate. Munchkin and his 4 littermates came into foster in early May when they were rescued from a shed in Eagleville, PA at approximately 5 weeks old. He is the last of his litter to be adopted because he has been patiently waiting for a recently completed Veterinary Neurologist evaluation (details below). Upon rescue, Munchkin quickly adjusted to humans and is very social. He has been great with the elementary aged children in his foster home, including one child with ASD/ADHD. He adjusts quickly to new cats in his foster home and would do well in a forever home with other friendly animals. He would also be happy as a solo cat as long as his forever humans are ready to give him love and attention. When rescued at 5 weeks, Munchkin was observed to have a condition impacting the coordination of his hind legs resulting in him overstriding and occasionally rolling onto his rear knuckles ("knuckling"). Munchkin has never let this slow him down, as he always kept up with his littermates, and was often the first to initiate playtime. He has worked hard to grow stronger and has greatly improved his walking posture. He sprints up the stairs, can jump up onto furniture, wrestles his siblings (and wins), and plays just like any other kitten. In fact, his coordination is best when he's moving fast. A Veterinary Neurologist has excluded both a prior spinal break and spinal deformation as the causes of Munchkin's hind limb differences. While the specific cause is unknown, Munchkin's sustained progress leads the Neurologist to be hopeful that the extent of his disability will be limited to the minor gait differences Munchkin has today.
