MITZI recently lost her mom (and her home) when her mom went into a long-term care facility. Luckily, a friend stepped up and took MITZI to her house to keep her safe until a rescue could be found.
When we went to meet MITZI, we discovered that both ears were filled with black cysts called ceruminous cystomatosis, a condition caused by her long-term untreated ear mite infection. The mites caused an inflammatory reaction in the ears and chronic shaking and scratching her head added to the damage.
We treated the ear mites and then took MITZI to Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster, NY to have the cysts removed with a laser. every went great and she has made a full recovery.
MITZI will be 10 years old on October 23rd. She is very friendly and sweet, albeit a little shy when first meeting new people. After a few minutes though she's in your llap, rubbing up against you, purring and drooling because she loves being petted.
MITZI has lived her entire life with just one female owner, and now she's living in a foster home with a couple, 8 other cats of varying ages, and. a 50 lb dog. She loves both humans equally, and would probably prefer to go back to being the center of. attention as an only cat, but we expect she would do fine in a home with a cat-friendly dog and perhaps a friendly cat or 2 who will leave her alone to settle in at her own pace.
MITZI is extremely beautiful and has a kind, gentle demeaner. She is fully vetted and negative for feline aids (FIV) and leukemia (FeLV). She is currently being fostered in New Milford, CT.
